One of the most difficult experiences I encountered as a classroom teacher was being asked questions that I could not confidently answer. These questions ranged from, “Why are we suffering?” to “Why do I not have a mother or father?” and “Why is God making my life difficult?” As a former teacher of Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, I often carried these questions with me long after the class had ended. They haunted me, not because I was unwilling to respond, but because questions concerning suffering, loss, faith, and the meaning of life rarely have simple or complete answers.
