Employment Experiences of the Bachelor of Arts in English Language Graduates of Surigao del Norte State University (SNSU)

Abstract
This study determined the employment experiences among Bachelor of Arts in English Language graduates in Surigao del Norte State University, from Academic Year 2021 to 2025. Specifically, it sought to determine the demographic profile of respondents in terms of age, sex, civil status, monthly income, employment status, industry, year graduated, occupation, and length of service. This further identified the employment experiences of AB English Language graduates in terms of job search, job skills and competence, and interpersonal and social skills. The study further explored challenges encountered by the AB English language graduates in employment through an interview guide validated by experts. A mixed method research design was employed and data were gathered from 28 AB English Language graduates through purposive sampling technique using a validated researcher-made questionnaire. Frequency Count and Percentage Distribution, Mean and Standard Deviation, and Kruskal Wallis ANOVA were the data analysis tools utilized to analyze the data gathered in the study. Findings revealed that the respondents were predominantly female, aged 23–24 years old, with a monthly income of 10,000 to 19,000, employed on a contractual basis in the education sector as teachers. They “Strongly Agree” that they perceive positive employment experiences in job search, job skills and competence, and interpersonal and social skills. They also shared challenges in employment experiences. It was concluded that AB English Language graduates strongly perceived positive employment experiences implying that the AB English program effectively equipped them with work-relevant skills and competencies. However, they need stronger development in practical, technical, and career-specific competencies to elevate their readiness, adaptability and confidence in employment.
