Abstract
This study examined teachers' workload, teaching-related assignments and teaching performance, as well as differences in workload by school category, the number of preparations and the challenges encountered in fulfilling teaching-related tasks. Workload refers to the teaching load and other duties performed within a specified period, while teaching load specifically denotes the actual classroom hours teachers deliver. A descriptive research design was employed, utilizing frequency counts, percentages, and means to assess workload and ancillary tasks. Pearson's r was used to assess the relationship between workload and teaching performance, and the Kruskal-Wallis test was used to identify significant differences in workload. Problems encountered and corresponding solutions were also analyzed using frequency counts and percentages. Findings revealed that teachers' workload and number of preparations complied with prescribed standards. Results further indicated that an increase in teaching-related assignments was associated with higher performance ratings. However, no significant relationships were found between teaching load, the number of preparations, and teaching performance. All teachers, regardless of school category, were assigned additional teaching-related tasks. The most commonly reported problems were the lack of instructional materials and excessive reporting requirements. The study concludes that while workload levels are within acceptable limits, resource constraints remain a major concern. It is recommended that schools provide adequate resources and support teachers through professional development opportunities such as INSET and SLAC, while encouraging teachers to strengthen time management, resourcefulness, and commitment to assigned responsibilities.
