Recommended Citation: Pitong-Hinampas, K., & Velarde, V. E. (2026). Experiences of Filipinos Teaching English Language in New Zealand. Academic Frontiers, 2(6), 23–35. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.20596618 Read File Author(s) Pitong-Hinampas, Kimberly, Velarde, Vanissa E. Abstract This study explored the experiences of Filipino teachers teaching English in New Zealand, focusing on how they adapt to curriculum differences, cultural and linguistic diversity, and classroom management in a multicultural educational context. Using a sequential exploratory mixed-methods design, the research first gathered quantitative survey data and then qualitative insights through interviews. Findings revealed that the majority of participants were female, highly educated, and experienced, with an average of 13 years of teaching in New Zealand. Teachers described their experiences as progressive and student-centered, highlighting flexibility in curriculum, respect for cultural identities, and positive reinforcement in classroom management. Despite challenges such as curriculum adjustments, communication barriers, licensing requirements, and even weather-related adaptations, teachers coped by drawing on resilience, mentoring, collaboration, and professional learning communities. Their perceptions of New Zealand’s educational standards were strongly positive, with a focus on flexibility, inclusivity, and holistic language development. Statistical analysis showed that professional experience and higher educational attainment significantly influenced perceptions of curriculum and classroom management, while sex did not. From these findings, curriculum enhancement implications for the Philippines were identified, emphasizing four pillars: flexible curriculum design, integration of multimodal and digital literacy, cultural responsiveness, and positive classroom management. These insights provide valuable guidance for the Department of Education and Teacher Education Institutions in preparing globally competent educators. Lakbay-Diwa Publishing. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19997219 Read File Author(s) Er-Er, Bae Mindara Jasstene Nicole C. Description This invention introduces JASSOLVED™, an eco-friendly herbal alternative for dental toothache pain relief, formulated from indigenous plant bioactive oil compounds. The product is composed of a synergistic blend of Lemongrass (Cymbopogon flexuosus) essential oil (65%-80%), Peppermint (Mentha x Piperita) oil (20%-40%), and Magkono (Xanthostemon verdugonianus) seed oil (10%-20%). These components are processed through the Ronier Phytoionic Propulsion Technology™ extractor under a thermostatically controlled pressure of 100 Pascals to ensure optimal bioactive potency. The product is delivered via 30mL spray or 15mL dropper formats for localized application. Experimental results demonstrate that the bioactive essential oils effectively decelerate dental toothache pain relief action, a composition of bioactive compounds comprising Citral, from lemongrass, limonene from peppermint, and geraniol, which have a biomedical anti-inflammatory property, natural anti-biotic effect and achieve complete dissolution within 2 to 5 minutes upon applying in three (3) doses by drops. The study validates the efficacy of naturally-derived indigenous oils as a sustainable, rapid-acting alternative for dental toothache pain management. This innovation offers a convenient, technologically natural, plant-based advanced solution for reducing dependency on synthetic pain relief, with scalable potential for broader dental care applications. It is recommended that a parallel study be conducted to verify the validity of the foregoing study and to support the application of additional clinical trials using the same herbal methodology.
