Abstract Food insecurity and malnutrition remain persistent global challenges, particularly in developing countries, where access to affordable, nutritionally adequate food is limited. In response to this concern, this study explored the potential of Pakawan banana corm (Musa spp.) as an alternative, underutilized food source by evaluating the acceptability of dishes developed from it. Specifically, the research aimed to formulate recipes using banana corm and assess their sensory acceptability in terms of taste, flavor, appearance, and palatability. Employing an experimental research design, five recipes, banana corm balls, pizza, lumpia, empanada, and banana corm with spaghetti sauce, were developed and subjected to sensory evaluation. A total of twenty-five purposively selected evaluators, comprising food technology students, faculty members, and non-food majors, participated in the assessment using a structured Likert-scale questionnaire. Data were analyzed using one-way Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Tukey’s Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) test to determine differences in acceptability ratings. Findings revealed that all developed dishes were rated as “much accepted” across all sensory attributes, indicating the viability of the banana corm as a food ingredient. Among the recipes, banana corm with spaghetti sauce consistently achieved the highest mean scores for taste and flavor, demonstrating a statistically significant advantage over the selected dishes. However, no significant differences were observed in appearance or palatability. These results suggest that while preparation methods influence certain sensory attributes, overall acceptability remains favorable across variations. The study concludes that the Pakawan banana corm possesses considerable potential as a sustainable, nutritious, and acceptable alternative food resource. Its use may help address food security concerns while promoting the valorization of agricultural by-products. The findings further support the need for increased awareness, product development, and community-level adoption of banana corm-based foods. Abstract This study examined the role of Sagpangan Elementary School in Aborlan, Palawan, as a community development hub through the integration of Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS) into formal education. Using a mixed-methods design, the study gathered quantitative and qualitative data from learners, teachers, the school principal, and selected community members, including indigenous elders, parents, community leaders, and Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representatives. Researcher-made questionnaires, interviews, descriptive statistics, Pearson r correlation, and thematic analysis were used to determine the extent of IKS integration, stakeholder perceptions, organizational and contextual influences, challenges, and possible interventions. Results showed that teachers and learners often experienced the integration of IKS in curriculum, teaching strategies, and learning resources. Community members strongly perceived the school as a culturally responsive partner in preserving indigenous identity and supporting community participation. However, the correlation between community involvement and overall IKS integration was not statistically significant, suggesting that community participation alone does not determine the extent of integration. Key challenges included the lack of localized materials, language barriers, crowded curriculum requirements, and limited teacher preparation. The qualitative findings further emphasized the value of storytelling, Tagbanua language use, experiential learning, and school-community collaboration. The study recommends teacher capacity-building, a cultural resource center, a locally validated IKS integration manual, and sustained partnerships with elders and community stakeholders. Abstract This study evaluated the effectiveness of the Online Rewriting Life Story Intervention Program (ORLSIP), a modified version of the Narrative Connection Intervention applying the Translational Storytelling Heuristic from the Communicated Narrative Sense-Making (CNSM) theory (Koenig Kellas, 2018). ORLSIP is a three-week structured, narrative-based program designed to help participants process and reframe pandemic-related experiences and mental health challenges. Conducted entirely online, the study was completed by eleven (n=11) Filipino COVID-19 survivors aged 24 to 40 who experienced mild to severe cases of the virus before vaccine availability. Using a pre-test and post-test control group design, anxiety and depressive symptoms were measured with the Hopkins Symptoms Checklist (HSCL-25). Results demonstrated significant reductions in depressive symptoms within the experimental group. And anxiety symptoms also decreased significantly within the experimental group, though between-group comparisons did not reach statistical significance. The effect size analysis highlighted practical relevance for anxiety reduction. These findings underscore that ORLSIP is an effective, accessible, culturally relevant intervention for reducing psychological distress, particularly in crisis contexts where face-to-face therapy is inaccessible. The study reinforces the applicability of narrative-based online therapy in digital formats, supporting mental health recovery among vulnerable populations. Given its effectiveness, ORLSIP can be integrated into public health programs, chronic illness management, and workplace wellness initiatives. Future research should explore its long-term efficacy, hybrid delivery models, and applicability to other trauma-affected populations. By expanding digital mental health interventions, ORLSIP has the potential to bridge critical gaps in psychological care and support global mental health resilience.
