Abstract The rapid expansion of social media and computer-mediated communication has given rise to new linguistic forms that influence language use among digital users. The study entitled "Jejenese in Computer-Mediated Communication: Its Impact on Filipino Millennials' Vocabulary and Communication Skills" examined the phenomenon of Jejenese, a stylized form of online language characterized by unconventional spelling, mixed capitalization, and phonetic alterations commonly used by Filipino millennials in social media interactions. The research aimed to identify the most frequently used Jejenese expressions and determine their perceived effects on vocabulary development and communication competence. Using a descriptive research design, the study collected linguistic data from thirty selected Facebook users representing millennial social media participants. Data were gathered through documentation of online conversations and through interview responses to capture participants’ perspectives on their language practices. Frequency counts and descriptive analysis were employed to identify patterns of usage and communicative implications. Findings revealed that Jejenese expressions, particularly stylized laughter forms, abbreviated gratitude expressions, and modified agreement markers, are widely used in informal online communication. The results indicate that while Jejenese promotes creativity, brevity, and social identity among peer groups, excessive reliance on such forms may contribute to misunderstandings, weakened spelling conventions, and reduced sensitivity to formal language structures in academic and professional communication. The study highlights the evolving nature of digital language and underscores the importance of developing contextual language awareness among social media users. This research contributes to United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by promoting responsible language use and strengthening communication competence in digitally mediated learning environments. Description When Daniel Santos accepted his first teaching assignment in a small public high school, he carried with him only three things that he considered indispensable: a leather briefcase, a fountain pen given by his father, and a thick, well-worn English dictionary. The dictionary had accompanied him throughout his college years. Its pages were marked with handwritten notes, underlined definitions, and folded corners that testified to countless evenings spent studying the English language. To Daniel, words possessed remarkable power. They had the ability to persuade, to comfort, to inspire, and to transform lives. That belief had led him to become an English teacher.

Lakbay-Diwa Publishing. https://doi.org/10.5281/zenodo.19572455 Read File Author(s) Enrique, Elisa S. Description The recent massive earthquake that struck Southeast Asia caused widespread destruction, leaving cities in ruins, livelihoods lost, and economies severely disrupted. While immediate relief and humanitarian assistance are essential, the more critical challenge lies in developing a comprehensive economic recovery plan that fosters resilience, inclusivity, and sustainability. This commentary explores strategies that governments, regional institutions, and communities can employ to rebuild economies stronger than before. A resilient recovery requires three interconnected pillars. First, infrastructure reconstruction must go beyond repair and focus on resilience. Governments should adopt stricter building standards, climate-adaptive designs, and decentralized infrastructure systems that can withstand future disasters. Such reconstruction initiatives can stimulate employment, particularly in construction and logistics, while ensuring long-term safety. Second, support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) must be prioritized. SMEs represent the backbone of Southeast Asia’s economies but are among the hardest hit in disasters. Providing low-interest recovery loans, tax relief, digital market access, and entrepreneurship training can revive local economies, promote self-reliance, and reduce dependency on external aid. Third, regional cooperation through ASEAN and other multilateral partnerships is essential. Collaborative financing, shared disaster-response frameworks, and cross-border insurance funds can ensure rapid recovery while enhancing collective resilience. Through shared expertise and pooled resources, Southeast Asian nations can respond to crises more effectively and equitably. Moreover, recovery should adopt green and inclusive approaches. Transitioning to renewable energy, investing in sustainable agriculture, and promoting eco-tourism not only rebuild livelihoods but also mitigate environmental risks. Post-disaster recovery offers a unique opportunity to “build back better” by integrating sustainability and innovation into every stage of reconstruction. Finally, education and workforce development must not be overlooked. Providing vocational retraining and digital literacy programs empowers displaced workers and supports communities' adaptation to a changing economic landscape. Economic recovery after a massive earthquake is not merely a process of rebuilding what was lost—it is about transforming societies into resilient, sustainable, and inclusive systems capable of withstanding future shocks.
